Project Overview
MedStat Hub is a passion project on a digital hub that brings the medical care each neighborhood is offering to the users. It categorizes and shares both medical and general information each medical expert offers within different neighborhoods.

Empathy Map
To gain a deeper understanding of the users' experiences, emotions, and behaviors within the context of neighborhood-based healthcare an empathy map facilitated empathizing with users and mapping out their perspectives to uncover their needs, pain points, and motivations.

UX Research Plan
Recognizing the need to enhance the user experience and accessibility in the neighborhood’s healthcare system while building a community to help healthcare workers and patients feel safe, I gathered a step-by-step plan on how the research needs to evolve.

User Interview
Running interview sessions and extracting insights from some of the participants led to better categorizing their input and understanding their points of view.
“I am not a digital person so I can’t think of any medical app, I use a grocery app and shopping app, PC and Etsy.”
“I don't like calling and being in line for 2 hours so if I need to pay and not deal with that I would go for it, the convenience it will bring for you is more important for me.”
“My partner wanted to book ENT and it took 6 months to get into the doctor’s office”

Affinity Mapping
Clustering participants' thought processes resulted in going throw “How Might We” statements which later on helped with optimizing the impact effort matrix.
Major Takeaways:
By narrowing down the brain stormed solutions within two clusters: Group 1- Responsive and accessible design Group 2- Logistics and communicating with local medical institutes It became easier for MedStat Hub to once again double-check which category would have a higher impact while adding a lower effort for the team and it made more sense that Group 1 would be the final “Quick Win” and Group 2 would be defined as “ Big Bets” meaning it still requires both higher impacts and effort but the results would be aligned with smoother user experience both for the everyday non-medical expert users and medical expert individuals.

Competitive Analysis
Using the (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats- SWOT) analysis as a framework to evaluate the MedStat Hub’s competitive position helped with developing a strategic plan aligned with the HMW statements. Note that there was surprisingly limited access to similar competitors in the market.

Utilizing two card sorting phases ( Closed and Hybrid card sorting sessions) through Optimal Workshop helped categorizing and classifying MedStat Hub’s site map.
Within closed card sorting, participants categorized predetermined content, providing valuable insights into a higher level intuitive information organization.
In the hybrid card sorting phase however, users organized both predetermined and user-generated content into subcategories, offering a comprehensive understanding of user mental models.
By analyzing the results and iteratively refining the site map, I ensured that MedStat Hub's navigation structure aligns with user expectations and enhances overall usability.

Wireframe (Mid- Fi)
Following a user-centric approach, I then designed a mid-fidelity wireframe both for the Desktop and Mobile environment showcasing the visual hierarchy and categorized information architecture in a setting that empowers both medical and healthcare workers and patients.

Design System
By selecting appropriate colors, typography, imagery, and dimension of the icons, CTAs and input fields, grids and atomic components, the design system sets the tone for the visual direction of the facility, aligning with its mission and values. Not to mention that, the design system can also work as a reference point for designers, developers, and stakeholders throughout the design process, ensuring consistency and coherence in the final outcome.

Mood Board
Having MedStat Hub’s brand identity, user experience, and overall ambiance desired for a healthcare facility in mind, the mood board got created to capture the essence of professionalism, trustworthiness, and comfort while incorporating elements of modernity and innovation.

Usability Testing
Once again using a mixed approach( quantitative and qualitative) I made sure the target audience are being tested on a scenario based usability tests going through both the Desktop and Mobile environment using Usertesting.com
4 separate user flows were covered through both Desktop and Mobile platforms and the participants were required to navigate MedStat Hub while exploring different scenarios such as modifying their personal dashboard. Some of the highlights of the results are as follows:
Usability Testing Points
All users were able to complete all tasks successfully.
Usability Testing Points
20% of the participants were confused by the choice of keywords and linguistic consistency through out the dashboard.
Usability Testing Points
All users expressed positive sentiment towards the experience.
Usability Testing Points
Incorporating multiple input fields in the “Navigating the Map” page brought occasional confusion to 15% of the users.

Reflection & Next Steps
This passion project revolved around the personal need I felt for a medical hub that can be accessible to the general public and safely gather medical experts and patients together. One of its few competitors is a private Canadian Insurance company that mainly focuses on the insurance aspect of healthcare and is not being offered to the general public for free. MedStat Hub, however, turned into an interactive, user-centered hub that prioritizes usability, accessibility, and user satisfaction for delivering high-quality healthcare services within neighborhood communities.
A number of tasks have been paused or need to be investigated and addressed further in the next steps:
Ensure inclusivity within the platform
To Collect a diverse range of feedback from users, MedStat Hub needs to run in-depth usability testing sessions.
Integrate additional functionality
To align with the industry standards and evolving needs of users, MedStat hub can collaborate with healthcare professionals and stakeholders to incorporate additional features to the platform.
Iterate and reiterate the final prototype
To enhance the overall user experience based on user feedback and usability testing results.
